Applicants for admission to the MPA Online
Program must meet the California State University Dominguez Hills admission
requirements for post-baccalaureate or graduate study and the graduate
admission requirements of the Department of Public Administration.
Applicants will be considered for admission if they satisfy the following:
- Hold an acceptable
baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university,
- Are in good standing at the
last institution attended,
- Have achieved a minimum
undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.0 in the last 60 semester
(90 quarter) upper division units,
- Attain a minimum score of 550
on the test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL) (required only of
students who have received all, or a significant portion, of their education
in a language other than English).
Admission to the MPA Online
Program is selective. The Admissions Committee reviews the entire application
package weighing prior academic performance, previous work experience, and
other professional and intellectual pursuits.
TOEFL Requirement TOEFL
All graduate applicants, regardless of citizenship, whose
preparatory education was principally in a language other than English must
demonstrate competence in English. Those who do not possess a
baccalaureate degree from an institution where English is the principal
language of instruction must receive a minimum score of 550 on the Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
Application Filing Dates
The MPA Online Program is
offered in four (4) terms or sessions
each year. Students may enroll and begin studies in any of the four terms.

Application Fees
An application fee of $55 in U.S.
funds, payable to CSUDH, must accompany your application. The fee is
nonrefundable and may not be transferred to another term at any campus. **Application
material received and accepted after the published deadline will incur an
additional $15.00 application fee. Please note: a copy of your
submitted application, personal statement and current résumé. You are not
required to submit an additional application fee to the department.
Tuition Fees
Effective January 1, 2007, tuition for core courses is $1,200.00 (U.S.) per three
unit course. Tuition for bridge or leveling courses, if these are deemed
necessary, is $800.00(U.S.)
per two unit course. Course fees are the same for both resident and
international students. All fees are subject to change.
Required Submissions

Application for MPA
Online Admission Form Application . An application fee for $55 (US) payable to
CSUDH must be submitted at the time your application is completed. **Application
material received and accepted after the published deadline will incur an

Two official transcripts from each
college or university attended. Transcripts must be received by CSUDH
Admission’s office in sealed envelopes directly from the issuing institutions.

TOEFL score (if required) sent directly from the
appropriate testing organization.

A one-to-two page typewritten personal statement
that describes the applicant's professional accomplishments and goals and
explains how a MPA degree would help reach those goals. The personal
statement will be used to evaluate the applicant's critical thinking and
writing skills and to access the appropriateness of a MPA degree to the
achievement of the stated goals.

A current résumé. The résumé will be used to
evaluate the applicant's academic background and professional experience

Certified English translations of non-English
transcripts (International students only)

The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is required. Acceptable GRE scores must be in the 15th percentile or
above in each of the following areas: verbal, quantitative, and
analytical. You may refer to http://GRE.com for
additional test information. The GMAT exam (minimum score of 450) may be
accepted in lieu of the GRE.
